My Plan

President Barack Obama made a educational speech that opened my eyes a bit more towards school. It's a long speech, but a lot of things he said can change the minds of many students that are not really focused in school.

One thing that he said was "Maybe you could be a good writer maybe even good enough to write a book or articles in a newspaper but you might not know it until you write a paper for your English class. Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or a new medicine or vaccine but you might not know it until you do a project for your science class. Maybe you could be a mayor or a Senator or a Supreme Court Justice, but you might not know that until you join student government or the debate team." It means I will never know what my future really holds unless I have an education and that and education can get my to become what I dream. I will follow this remark by applying myself more in school and getting more involed with assignments in every subject because I want to know what I am good at this way I have more of an idea of what I can become in the near future. I will need to do all my classwork, homework assignments, group activities, and speak more with my teachers. The best way for me to do this is by really knowing what I want and going for it.

Another remark Obama made was "But at the end of the day, the circumstances of your life what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you've got going on at home that's no excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude. That's no excuse for talking back to your teacher, or cutting class, or dropping out of school. That's no excuse for not trying." A lot of times I use the excuse that my friends and the neighborhood where I live in is the reason for my failure in the past, when in reality it all depends on me and my effort to succeed. I need to stop hanging out with the people from my neighborhood that have a negative impact to the community and start to make friends with those that are on the same path I am.

President Barack Obama's educational speech was genius and it can really change the way many students apply themselves in school. The speech will definitely have an impact on my life.
